As the population continues to expand outward from a central work location in downtown Houston, these issues will continue to get worse. Particularly as each of the communities outside the beltway focus on a particular lifestyle to draw in residents. Galveston, and its island lifestyle, or the Woodlands, and its natural lifestyle, are two examples. The pollution and traffic as it stands, will not encourage people to want this to continue. This in turn will lead to more sprawl. If we can set up dedicated lines of high occupancy transportation that the bulk of the population has easy access to, rather than having to drive half way to their destination before it becomes available, people will be more likely to use them
